The University of Michigan and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel will create a research partnership to collaborate on developing renewable technologies. Each university has pledged half of the $1 million that will jumpstart the three-year program. An annual technical workshop will showcase the research outcomes.

NASA and the National Institutes of Standards and Technology (NIST) are sponsoring the second in a series of regional public workshops to gather ideas and suggestions on the design of the proposed National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI). The workshop will be held 9 July at the Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland.

Now, researchers have detected a broad range of emerging synthetic antioxidants, called hindered phenol and sulfur antioxidants, in dust from electronic waste (e-waste) recycling workshops, possibly posing risks for the workers inside. An open-access paper on the work is published in ACS’ Environmental Science & Technology Letters.

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and China’s Peking University agreed on 12 November to jointly pursue the development of safe and effective carbon capture and storage techniques. The workshop, held at Peking University, brought together scientists from Berkeley Lab, Stanford University, and several Chinese research institutions.
