Later in the project, Topsoe’s scope will be extended to supply methanol reactors and catalysts. The gasoline synthesis from methanol has been commercially proven in a 15000-bpd plant in Turkmenistan since 2019. Topsoe will deliver basic engineering and license for methanol synthesis and TIGAS gasoline synthesis technologies.

Topsoe is providing engineering and design services currently and will supply catalyst and proprietary hardware to the facility. The fact that TIGAS has been operating at identical unit scale in Turkmenistan for nearly two years was a major factor in Nacero’s decision. The Penwell facility will also produce ‘blue’ hydrogen.
