Ford Motor Company and Azure Dynamics Corporation are introducing a passenger wagon version of the Ford Transit Connect Electric. The wagon is a logical next step for Azure and Ford which first introduced an electrified Transit Connect in December 2010. Earlier post.). The wagon has a top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h).

Azure Dynamics Corporation announced that AT&T has agreed to purchase two of the first Ford Transit Connect Electric vans. The Ford Transit Connect Electric is powered by Azure Dynamics’ Force Drive electric drivetrain with a lithium-ion battery pack from Johnson Controls-Saft.

Detroit Edison (DTE) President and Chief Operating Officer, Steven Kurmas, presented two out of four recently-purchased Ford Transit Connect Electric vehicles ( earlier post ) at DTE Energy headquarters in downtown Detroit. The vehicles were purchased from Suburban Ford of Sterling Heights, Mich., —Steven Kurmas.

Azure Dynamics Corporation and Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited, will deliver one of the first Transit Connect Electric commercial vans to Canada Post under the LEAD customer program. The Transit Connect Electric integrates Azure’s Force Drive electric powertrain into Ford’s dedicated global commercial van platform.

Azure Dynamics Corporation and Ford Motor Company announced that New York Power Authority (NYPA), the nation’s largest state public power organization, has been added to the LEAD customer program for the Ford Transit Connect Electric van. The battery is rechargeable using either a 240-volt or standard 120-volt outlet.
