The European project, EMB3Rs, is discovering new ways to achieve industrial waste heat recovery in Portugal to raise energy efficiency, cut carbon emissions and end fuel poverty. Lisbon’s Parque das Nações is home to the only large-scale District Heat Cold (DHC) network in Portugal.

Daimler has concluded customer field trials with eight pre-production Fuso Canter E-Cell electric trucks ( earlier post ) in Portugal. All eight vehicles travelled the roads of Portugal and were permanently monitored and analyzed during the one-year field trial. The Canter E-Cell trucks were equipped with platforms and box bodies.

To support several carbon fiber RTM programs that will begin as soon as the end of 2020, CSP and parent company Teijin are investing in a dedicated CF-RTM production line in Palmela, Portugal. The initial investment of €5.5 million will include the installation of compression presses, RTM injection units and a bonding cell.

The eEconic is mainly used as a waste-collection vehicle in urban waste-management. The eCanter is produced in Kawasaki, Japan and in Tramagal, Portugal. The first practical applications of the Mercedes-Benz eEconic low-floor truck, which is based on the eActros, were announced in 2020 and are planned for next year.
