Hyundai is adding Plug-in Hybrid and N Line models to its 2022 Tucson line-up. Tucson N Line and Plug-in Hybrid SUV models will be produced in Ulsan, Korea and be available spring and summer, respectively. I will start my first drive review of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid with a minor confession of sorts. Full disclosure: Hyundai paid for my flights, my hotel, and my meals so that I could drive the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and a few other vehicles. Compared with 2023, European BEV and PHEV deliveries declined by 1% and 3.6% Deliveries of PHEVs reached 957,338 registrations , down 35,415 units year on year. On the last positions of the table, the Renault Megane PHEV jumped two spots, to #18, while the Ford Kuga PHEV joines the table in #20.
Future PHEVs will also aim to offer more of an electric-vehicle driving experience up front—meaning that as long as you have some charge in the plug-in battery, the gasoline engine will stay mostly off and out of the mix. in a number of years is a California-only affair and it doesn’t have a gasoline engine under the hood.
That’s a good place to start when summing-up the Mazda line-up of crossover/SUVs, its one remaining sedan and, of course, the delightful MX-5 Miata. If you are planning to leave paved surfaces, take a look at the CX-50 , which Mazda says is a “rugged and capable crossover SUV, purpose-built for active lifestyles.”
Climbing and descending this twisting road would be a true test for any car, SUV or truck, but when testing a hybrid there is an extra check on the performance the electric motor adds to the gasoline engine.
