Not visibly electric The relatively sleek crossover shape says “small SUV” without telegraphing the electric powertrain, and the interior bears a clear family resemblance to other Chevy models—including the large horizontal touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. The high-end 3RS trim starts at $46,795. All-wheel drive adds $3,400.

The magazine’s team seemed to have buckled in the driver’s seatbelt without a person sitting in the seat. Simply put, if a person is intentionally putting themselves in danger by participating in illegal driving behaviors, no driver-monitoring system would be enough. Such is simply the nature of the car industry.

One’s a three-row midsize SUV under $60,000; the other’s a compact hatchback that starts in the mid-30s. We’re not holding our breath for that mythical $30,000 Chevrolet Equinox EV, but we figured retail versions of Chevy’s Silverado EV pickup truck and Blazer EV SUV would have reached the market by now. Now we’ve driven both.

Nominally a compact crossover SUV with 285 to 319 miles of EPA-estimated range, it’s priced competitively, with prices starting at $43,295 (including a mandatory $1,395 delivery fee). As of now, every version of both cars qualifies for the $7,500 EV tax credit —now a point-of-sale purchase rebate for eligible buyers.
