Northvolt to build 100 GWh/year cathode material plant in Sweden; reusing shuttered pulp and paper mill

Northvolt and Stora Enso recently signed a letter of intent on a purchase of the Kvarnsveden Mill and the surrounding industrial area in Borlänge, Sweden. The factory is expected to start the first part of its operations in late 2024 and will employ up to 1,000 people, utilizing 100% clean energy from the region.

Volvo delivers 20 electric trucks to DFDS in Gothenburg; part of 125-unit order

Volvo Trucks is delivering 20 fully electric heavy trucks to the logistics company DFDS in Gothenburg, Sweden. The delivery is part of a total order for 125 electric trucks that DFDS has placed with Volvo. The deployment of electric, zero-exhaust emission trucks is part of the ambition of DFDS to become carbon neutral by 2050.

BMW Group plans to source steel produced with green power and hydrogen from H2GS in Sweden

H2 Green Steel is building its steel production site in the province of Norrbotten in northern Sweden, close to the Arctic Circle. Swedish company Northvolt, which develops and produces battery cells for electric cars, is also exploiting the potential for green power in the north of Sweden.

Scania to test wirelessly charged plug-in hybrid city bus for the first time in Sweden

Now, for the first time in Sweden, Scania and the Stockholm based Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) plan to test the wireless charging technology in real-life conditions. As part of the field tests, a Scania citybus with an electric hybrid powertrain will go into daily operation in Södertälje in June 2016.

Einride’s cab-less, autonomous electric truck in commercial operations on public road in Sweden

The world premiere and inaugural run took place at DB Schenker’s facility in Jönköping, Sweden. The T-pod will transport goods between a warehouse and terminal at the facility, as part of a commercial flow. Einride’s T-pod—a cab-less, autonomous electric truck ( earlier post )—has driven on a public road.
