Reducing the cost of electric vehicles. 10,000/KWh with an increase in cap from 20% to 40% of the cost of the vehicle from 11th June 2021, thus enabling the cost of Electric two-wheelers at par with that of ICE two-wheeler vehicles. Drop-in battery price will result in cost reduction of electric vehicles.

As many as 450-500 automated vehicle testing stations and 50-75 registered vehicle scrapping facilities were targeted to be set up by private firms in partnership with states in the mid-term. The Centre is considering setting up a dedicated fund to incentivise new vehicle buyers among steps to push customers to scrap old vehicles.

The government of Maharashtra has unveiled its draft Electric Vehicle Policy 2021 for the faster adoption of electric vehicles in India and to achieve a 10 per cent share of total registrations by 2025. Maharashtra aims to make up 10 per cent of all new vehicle registrations around three lakh vehicles a year in the state by 2025.

As for fitness checks, there are currently 52 automated testing stations (ATS) that are operational for checking the fitness of vehicles across 11 states and UTs. Under this offer, there will be a concession in motor vehicle price or road tax of up to 25% when a customer goes to buy a new personal vehicle after scrapping their old one.
