Ford Motor Company and Azure Dynamics Corporation are introducing a passenger wagon version of the Ford TransitConnect Electric. The wagon is a logical next step for Azure and Ford which first introduced an electrified TransitConnect in December 2010. The wagon has a top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h).

Azure Dynamics Corporation and RøhneSelmer AS signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to enter into an agreement whereby RøhneSelmer will import and distribute up to 400 Ford TransitConnect Electric vans annually. To create the TransitConnect Electric, Azure integrates its Force Drive electric powertrain into the Ford TransitConnect.

Azure Dynamics Corporation announced that its Norwegian Ford dealership, RøhneSelmer, has signed an order for an additional 100 TransitConnect Electric vans. With a 28 kWh battery pack, TransitConnect Electric has a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and a range of up to 130 km (80 miles) on a full charge.
Azure Dynamics Corporation and Ford Motor Company announced that New York Power Authority (NYPA), the nation’s largest state public power organization, has been added to the LEAD customer program for the Ford TransitConnect Electric van. The battery is rechargeable using either a 240-volt or standard 120-volt outlet.

SEV US Corp will begin production using chassis from multiple vehicle manufacturers.
Combining all these elements together, Smith’s engineers believe they can improve the range of its electric vans by up to 20 miles (about 20%) on a full battery charge.
