Nissan and New York City have launched a new electric vehicle taxi pilot with the Nissan LEAF. This pilot program, which puts six LEAF taxis into service beginning this spring, will help Nissan, the city, the taxi industry and the public understand how EVs can be integrated into future taxi fleets.

EADS has also engineered together with Diamond Aircraft and Siemens an updated series hybrid electric motor glider, the Diamond Aircraft DA36 E-Star 2. E-Fan propulsion is provided by two electric motors with a combined power of 60 kW, each driving a ducted, variable pitch fan.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Renault unveiled four Lithium-ion battery electric concept vehicles that provide a preview of Renault’s range of production electric vehicles to be released from 2011 on: Twizy ZE Concept (city car); Zoe ZE Concept (compact car); Fluence ZE Concept (5 passenger sedan); and Kangoo ZE Concept (electric van).

At the 2024 Busan Mobility (car) Show in Korea, Hyundai’s Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) company Supernal stated its plan to enter the air taxi market by 2028 with its S-A2 e-VTOL (electrical vertical take-off and landing) craft. On the noise front, Shin promised the e-VTOL flying taxi “operates as quietly as a dishwasher”.
