California buyers of the Ford Focus Electric will be able to receive up to $10,000 in tax credits ($2,500 state, $7,500 federal) and enjoy high-occupancy vehicle lane (HOV) access after the car was just approved for California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program ( CVRP ). 3 and 7, respectively, for the worst congestion in the US.

Designed to promote the use of Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) and related clean vehicle technologies, the CVRP is a consumer incentive made available in addition to a $2,500 Federal Tax credit. While in EV Mode, the Prius Plug-in is rated by the EPA to drive up to 11 miles. The base MSRP for the Prius Plug-in Hybrid is $32,000.

The MY14 B-Class Electric Vehicle will be available beginning in mid-July to dealers in California; Connecticut; Maine; Maryland; Massachusetts; New Jersey; New York; Oregon; Rhode Island; and Vermont.

GM will introduce the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric vehicle with a starting MSRP of $41,000; after applying the Federal income tax credit of $7,500, the price drops to $33,500. The Volt has a total driving range of about 340 miles (547 km) and is powered by electricity at all times.

Production of the 2014 model year Prius Plug-in begins in October with pricing taking effect when these models arrive in showrooms in November.The Prius Plug-in qualifies for a Federal Tax Credit of up to $2,500 in addition to the State of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP) which offers a $1,500 rebate.

The 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) is arriving in select dealerships in 10 states this week with an EPA-estimated 27-mile (43.5-kilometer) At the Sonata PHEV’s launch in January, Hyundai had estimated a 22-mile AER ( earlier post ), which it later bumped up to around 24 miles ( earlier post ).
