Production of the 2014 model year Prius Plug-in begins in October with pricing taking effect when these models arrive in showrooms in November.The Prius Plug-in qualifies for a Federal Tax Credit of up to $2,500 in addition to the State of California’s Clean Vehicle Rebate Program (CVRP) which offers a $1,500 rebate. kWh Li-ion battery pack.

The Standard Range has a driving range of 240 miles, while the RWD gets either 305 and 361 miles depending if shod with 20-inch or 18-inch tires. The AWD driving range is 316 miles with the 18-inch tire and 270 miles with 20-inch tires. The 361-mile all-electric driving range is very appealing in the RWD model.

Nissan is working on an electric car that it says is on track to have a 100-mile range and 26-minute charge time. My parents live about 180 miles away, which is well outside the range of most electric cars. That’s 7 cents worth of electricity per mile driven. With a 55KWH battery, range is only 157 miles.
