California Energy Commission adopts offshore wind goals: 5GW by 2030, 25 GW by 2045

ICCT life-cycle analysis finds no climate benefit in using LNG as marine fuel

The results of a new analysis by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) show that, when combined with a trend toward higher methane leakage and combustion slip, there is no climate benefit from using liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a marine fuel—regardless of the engine technology. Expleo develops closed-loop, e-methanol fuel cell solution for global shipping

Kongsberg launches first full-scale hydrogen-based marine propulsion system; HySeas III

Hydrogen fuel will be generated through wind power at the ferry port. It will confirm safe operation and power and fuel capacity requirements, together with other valuable information to feed back to the vessel design team at Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) in Scotland. CMAL plans to complete the design in March 2022.

Carbon Clean and Liquid Wind partner on eMethanol production for marine fuel

Carbon Clean, a developer of low-cost carbon capture technology, has entered into an agreement with power-to-fuels developer Liquid Wind. Within the Liquid Wind facility, the CO 2 will then be combined with renewable hydrogen to form the carbon-neutral liquid fuel, eMethanol. The partnership has ambitions for future sites.
