Wisk Aero, an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) company, revealed the first self-flying, all-electric, four-passenger vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) air taxi. A larger passenger cabin with 4 seats and ample storage for baggage and personal carry-on items, making it one of the most versatile air taxis in the market.

The City of Bogota, Colombia, has launched a pilot project to spur the use of electric vehicles in Bogota’s center-city taxi fleet. The first taxis are expected to be operational in the city in the next few months. On 29 December 2011, the City of Bogota enacted Decree No. 677 to support the project over a three-year period.

At CES 2019, ZF will unveil a steering-wheel- and pedal-free robo-taxi to show how its technologies enable new forms of urban mobility. Users can hail the taxi using their smartphone or tablet; the robo-taxi will maneuver autonomously to pick them up. It can then chauffeur them to where they wish to go. —Torsten Gollewski.

Zytek won the award for Most Economical & Environmentally Friendly Multi-Purpose electric vehicle with a 7-seat electric Mercedes Vito taxi ( earlier post ) in the first RAC Brighton to London Future Car Challenge. Its electric Mercedes Vito seven-seat taxi finished the 57-mile run with around 30% of its battery capacity to spare.

The London Taxi Company (LTC) officially opened the UK’s first car plant dedicated solely to the production of range-extended electric vehicles. The new vehicle plant in Ansty, Coventry, will build the world’s first purpose-built, mass-market electric taxi. —Carl-Peter Forster, Chairman of the London Taxi Company.
