Porsche will manufacture the future all-electric version of the fourth-generation Cayenne at Volkswagen Slovakia’s multi-brand location in Bratislava. Prototype of the new Cayenne Porsche has already announced a further all-electric SUV above the Cayenne for the second half of the decade.

The system stores sustainably generated electricity in used batteries that come from the all-electric SUV ŠKODA ENYAQ iV as well as the plug-in hybrid models SUPERB iV and OCTAVIA iV. So far, 160 pre-orders have been received from dealers in the Czech Republic, Germany, the Netherlands and Slovakia.

Manufacturers will have to reduce emissions of their fleet significantly to meet the upcoming 2020 and 2021 targets. The main factors contributing to the increase of new passenger cars’ emissions in 2018 include the growing share of gasoline cars in new registrations, in particular in the sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment.

Kia’s smallest, cheapest EV has been previewed by the Kia Concept EV2 at the 2025 Kia EV Day ahead of the production small SUV’s global debut next year. In the extremely price-sensitive entry-EV segment the Slovakian manufacturing location is a huge issue as it means the little Kia EV2 will incur a five per cent import tariff.

TGI EVO is fitted with a combination of one high-strength steel tank, which is smaller and located ahead of the rear axle—and two new large tanks located behind the rear axle, that are manufactured in a carbon fibre composite construction, significantly reducing their weight and optimizing weight distribution.
