Electrify America selected LongBeach and the Wilmington neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles as its second “Green City” investment. The Green City investment is part of Electrify America’s commitment to invest $800 million in California over ten years.
Additionally, the company will direct $25 million of the $200 million investment for an initiative in the City of LongBeach and the Wilmington neighborhood of Los Angeles (LongBeach-Wilmington), for a “Green City” program. Green City Investment: - $25 Million in LongBeach-Wilmington.
The plans approved are for: Wilmington, Carson, West LongBeach. Some of the key strengths for the Wilmington, Carson, West LongBeach CERP are the rules for flaring and equipment used at refineries, fenceline monitoring at refineries and incentives for port-related equipment.
Key Steps to Cleaning Southern California’s Air Diesel Class 8 trucks run seemingly tail-to-nose from the Ports of LongBeach and Los Angeles to the Inland Empire in Southern California. For perspective, more than 22,000 trucks are registered to serve the ports of LA and LongBeach.
New vehicles to be deployed include 55 CNG vehicles, 363 propane vehicles, 89 hybrid electric vehicles, and 56 neighborhood electric vehicles. The project will replace 180 diesel drayage trucks at the Ports of Los Angeles and LongBeach with LNG trucks. Total DOE award: $12,975,388.
