And in the last two weeks, one of the largest utility companies in the United States, Pacific Gas & Electric, announced plans to work with General Motors in experiments with their bidirectional charging technologies. In case of power outage at home, the DC pins in the charger can send juice back into the house, keeping the lights on.

By Atul Gopal The PluginIndia team was invited by Tata Motors to test the all new Tata Tigor EV electric car which had an upgrade Ziptron powertrain. Tata Motors claims that the Tigor EV comes with an ARAI-certified range of 306 kms (under standard testing conditions). The motor is rated at a peak power of 55 kW.

Newly installed CEO Fritz Henderson argues that pioneering projects like the Volt typically lose money until the technology catches on. "The Volt is a case study. " In other words, General Motors is going to lose its shirt until the Volt establishes itself in the marketplace. Thats short-sighted.
