It took me 17 days to reach the United Arab Emirates, and my route went through fascinating places like the Kurdish region of Iraq, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Eleven euros for a bottle of water? This was the toughest part of the trip but the people I met along the way and the stops for some delicious food made it worthwhile.
