Working with Brazilian bus manufacturer Agrale and Argentinian coachbuilder Todo Bus, Equipmake has developed, from the ground-up, an electric version of the Agrale MT17.0LE single decker, installing its own Zero Emission Drivetrain (ZED). It will begin in-service trials with London’s largest bus operator, Go-Ahead, in the coming months.

UPS is working with UK-based technology firm ARRIVAL to develop a pilot fleet of 35 electric delivery vehicles (EVs) to be trialed in London and Paris. These zero tailpipe emission, lightweight composite vehicles have a battery range of more than 150 miles (240 kilometers), which is significantly higher than other EVs currently in service.

Transport for London (TfL) has introduced the first long-range, battery-electric BYD Double-Decker buses into revenue service routes. The batteries can power the bus for over 24 hours and up to 190 miles of typical urban driving on the service routes with a single daily recharging requiring only four hours.

UK retailer Sainsbury Online, which uses the Smith Electric Vehicles Edison electric vans for home shopping delivery in London, is ordering another 50 Smiths electric vans for its fleet. Sainsbury’s and TNT have signed up to work together with City Hall to share their experiences and to help other organizations across London to do the same.

In August 2014, Hyundai’s ix35 fuel cell model was driven a record distance for a hydrogen-powered production car on a single tank, covering 435 miles across three Scandinavian countries. Crucially the driver does not have to fill up again for several hundred miles.
