Monarch Energy, an energy company focused on decarbonizing the hydrogen production process, is exploring building a $426- million facility in Ascension Parish, Louisiana. Louisiana Economic Development estimates the project would result in an additional 105 new indirect jobs, for a total of 149 potential new jobs in the Capital Region.

thyssenkrupp to supply 20MW electrolysis plant to CF Industries for green hydrogen for green ammonia production

thyssenkrupp has signed a contract with Illinois-based CF Industries to supply a 20 megawatt alkaline water electrolysis plant to produce green hydrogen at their Donaldsonville, Louisiana, manufacturing complex. The project will utilize a 20 MW alkaline water electrolyzer developed by thyssenkrupp.

CF Industries to build green ammonia plant in Louisiana

CF Industries’ Board of Directors has approved a green ammonia project at the company’s flagship Donaldsonville Nitrogen Complex to produce approximately 20,000 tons per year of green ammonia. Industry experts project hydrogen will meet approximately 20% of the world’s energy need by 2050, up from less than 1% today.

Air France KLM signs 210M gallon SAF offtake agreement with DG Fuels

DG Fuels (DGF), a provider of cellulosic drop-in sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), signed a multi-year SAF offtake agreement with Air France KLM for up to 60,408 metric tons (21 million gallons) per year from DGF’s initial plant to be located in Louisiana. DGF’s cellulosic feedstock does not impair food supply and is essentially water neutral.
