Stellantis is recalling 76,000 Chrysler plug-in hybrid minivans because a short circuit could cause the engine to unexpectedly shut down. The recall covers 67,000 2017-23 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid minivans in the United States and about 9,000 in other countries.

We’ve seen electric sedans, sports cars, crossovers, and even pickup trucks, but there’s one segment of the market that’s been left out: minivans. The only minivans I’ve seen are the Nissan ENV-200 work van and the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid (a PHEV).

The iZEV program in Ottawa, for example, offers $5,000 rebates for both BEVs and PHEVs (plug-in hybrids), as long as the base price of the vehicle is less than $55,000 for sedans and $65,000 for SUVs, minivans, and pickups. Canada’s EV incentive and rebate program differs significantly from the United States version.
