The United States’ fleet of 250 electric drive vehicles will begin arriving in October 2010 and is part of the second phase of a three-phase roll-out program. A report authored by Sandia National Laboratories on the project found that the project showed that it is possible to increase energy efficiency by up to 30% at part load and reduce emissions to zero through the use of hydrogen fuel cells. One opportunity to do so was identified in Honolulu Harbor at the Young Brothers Ltd. (YB)
The State of the Air 2011 report grades cities and counties based, in part, on the color-coded Air Quality Index developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help alert the public to daily unhealthy air conditions.
