New WHO has issued new Global Air Quality Guidelines (AQGs) that reduce levels of key air pollutants, some of which also contribute to climate change. Recommended 2021 AQG levels compared to 2005 air quality guidelines. The goal of the guideline is for all countries to achieve recommended air quality levels. Source: WHO.

In addition, the team used available seismic data of the industry from the British sector of the North Sea to make further statements about the boreholes in the area. European industry ministers in an EU Competitiveness Council meeting in Brussels yesterday voiced their support for the European Commission’s strategy for clean and energy-efficient vehicles, which was published last month ( earlier post ). They also noted that hydrogen vehicles and electric vehicles are mutually complementary.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released its latest set of proposed standards to reduce emissions of methane and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from the oil and natural gas industry. The proposal also includes incentives to spur the oil and gas industry to minimize leaks.

Governments at the COP17 meeting decided to adopt some form of a universal legal agreement on climate change as soon. Governments, including 35 industrialized countries, also agreed to a second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol—due to expire next year— from 1 January 2013. as possible, but not later than 2015.
