The Revas are traveling 200km per charge on Lithium-Ion batteries (the solar adds 8km extra). We also have one waste vegetable oil van, one sustainably harvested jatropha fuel truck and one solar-roofed diesel car that charges laptops and cameras. I feel honored to charge these electric cars at my station.

It shares an all-new platform with the purely petrol Outlander version. litre combustion petrol engine allied with twin electric motors, a 20kWh lithium-ion battery pack and all-wheel-drive. For a plug-in hybrid it is, but those prices are some $15,000 more than the equivalent Outlander petrol versions. Is it good value?

The electricity used to drive the vehicle is stored in a large battery, which is charged by plugging the car into a power source, either at home or public charging stations. When the battery depletes, it is recharged using grid electricity from a wall socket or a dedicated charging station. . HOW DOES AN ICEV WORK?

Many EVs recommend you don’t use the whole battery capacity Many electric cars allow you to set the maximum charge rate at 80 or 90 percent. Don’t ever expect it to go that far.

Electric cars and a smart electric grid have a bright future, according to panelists at a roundtable discussion on the subject that I attended last Friday in Boston. “I Vehicle-to-grid is, I believe, the salvation of the automotive industry in the United States,” declared Marc Spitzer, an agency commissioner who was also on the panel.

The plan, announced on Tuesday, 19 May at the C40 Climate Change Summit in Seoul, promises a range of measures to put at least 100,000 electric vehicles on London’s roads as soon as possible, from investment in re-charging infrastructure to financial incentives for consumers. The average journey in London is just four miles.
