Kia Corporation has revealed the Kia Concept EV9 at the AutoMobility LA. It also features next-generation ultra-fast charging technology with a 350-kW charger that allows its advanced battery electric powertrain to replenish energy from 10% to 80% in 20-30 minutes. The all-electric SUV delivers driving range of up to 300 miles.

Kia Motors will introduce its first 48V diesel mild-hybrid powertrain in the second half of 2018. The Kia Sportage will be the first model to offer the new EcoDynamics+ diesel mild-hybrid powertrain later in 2018. The new third-generation Kia Ceed will be the second among a range of Kia models to offer the new powertrain from 2019.

Minnesota Clean Cities Coalition staff managed the EV test drive part of the event where guests were able to choose to ride or drive in a Polestar 2, Tesla Model Y, Subaru Solterra, Nissan Ariya, BMW iX, Kia Niro, or Kia EV6. Twenty-two EV owners brought their vehicles and talked to visitors about their driving experiences.

Kia Motors America (KMA) introduced the re-designed Optima midsize sedan at the New York International Auto Show. liter pushes out an estimated 178 horsepower (133 kW) at 5,500 rpm and a stout 195 lb-ft (264 N·m) of torque at just 1,500 rpm, the new engine mates to a seven-speed DCT, a first for the Kia brand.
