The hydrogen generators produced by the JV under license from e1NA use methanol and water as feedstock resulting in cost effective onsite production of hydrogen and a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and local air pollution when compared to gas and oil.

At the conclusion of the International Negotiating Committee on Mercury ( INC5 ) meeting in Geneva ( earlier post ), nations agreed on a global, legally-binding treaty to prevent mercury emissions and releases. Public awareness campaigns and support for mercury-free alternatives will also be part of the plans.

A three-judge panel of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia held in a 2-1 opinion that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had overstepped its authority with the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), and, as a result, vacated the regulation (USCA Case #11-1302). In 2018, the Government will publish a comprehensive Clean Air Strategy which will address other sources of air pollution. Air quality in the UK has been improving significantly in recent decades, with reductions in emissions of all of the key pollutants, and NO 2 levels down by half in the last 15 years. 11M – Air Quality Grant.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has renewed calls for scrapping the most polluting diesel cars and giving drivers cash incentives to switch to cleaner vehicles as part of the evidence he gave to the Environmental Audit Committee today. They now feel very hacked off now they’re told they are more polluting.

Although industry has lined up behing HFO 1234yf to fulfill the obligations of this directive; Daimler has balked at its use ( earlier post ) based on its internal safety testing and has continued to use the old refrigerant with a much higher air polluting potential.

The Court also ruled that in deciding whether to grant or deny a pending rulemaking petition regarding section 202(a)(1), EPA must decide whether new motor vehicle GHG emissions meet that endangerment test, or explain why scientific uncertainty is so profound that it prevents making a reasoned judgment on such a determination.
