Alternative fuel technologies have been embraced in Seattle, after the city was awarded a $1.4million grant from the US Department of Energy to enhance its fleet of green vehicles. Seattle also signed an agreement to be one of the first markets to introduce the Nissan LEAF back in April.

Many local governments around the world have set some ambitious targets for the introduction of green cars, but few compare to the government of Ontario, which wants one out of every 20 vehicles to have electric drive by the year 2020. The government is also likely to provide Green Vehicle License Plates for plug-in vehicles.
