36/48 volt. I am leaning towards a golf cart or forklift motor. This is a 24 volt system, and made for flat, hard surfaces. All the Golf cart motors I have been finding on the net are either 10 or 19 spline. Golf cart motor ? Motor was lost long ago. My plan is to convert this ride into an EV.

The original CivicWithACord design used 18 8-volt golf cart batteries. After some debate on the Google Group and dealing with clutch-link interference issues, I'm tending towards 12-volt group-31 AGM batteries for the initial design. So thats disappointing. As stinky is another way of saying not healthy to breathe.

Although the Bill of Lading clearly stated that this was a residence requiring a liftgate, UPS seemed to overlook that part of the order. The 914 AC kit uses 8V golf cart batteries and I'm wondering if different batteries like Hawkers or Optima Yellow-Top batteries would be better. Both US-Battery and Trojan have 8-volt golf-cart batteries. With the AC system, I'll probably be pulling less amps and am looking forward to the extended range.

Above is a picture of a heavily sulfated 8-volt golf-cart battery I acquired yesterday. volts which should go up over time if the battery desulfates. I still have two other 8-volt batteries (top picture) that I cleaned up today that also needed about half a gallon of water to fill each.

Besides, the PowerCheq units only handle 12 volt batteries and the ElectroAuto kit is designed for 8-volt golf-cart batteries, so a homebrew system will be required.

I'm not sure how much current these golf cart batteries are designed for. The battery voltage sunk from 152 volts at rest down to 132 volts after awhile during heavy acceleration. The controller cuts current to the motor if the voltage drops, so I definitely lost power on the uphill exit ramp off the freeway.

If you hadn't read before, the 18 8-volt golf cart batteries add 800 pounds to the weight of the car, so the suspension needs upgrading. I received the suspension parts from ElectroAuto today. It looks like I got new springs(blue), torsion bars (red) and two sets of matching shock absorbers (white/silver).

It's a pity that we have to remove this, but the size of the golf-cart batteries clearly interfere with the latch. It turns out that the positive wire to the horn is also tied directly to the positive terminal of the 12-volt system. Here's the sawed off hood latch. The 914 uses pressure from the spare tire (??!!)

The 8-volt golf cart batteries arrived over 24 days ago and have just been sitting on the garage floor, discharging. This is inside the driver-side fuel compartment looking forward. The two one-inch holes will get grommets for the high-current battery cables connecting the front batteries with the middle pack.

A very low cost EV is taking a golf cart transaxle or whole GC rear/seat and weld, ect a MC front end, frame, title to it, change the batteries from 6vdc to 12vdc to double the voltage and use larger dia VW Rabbit tires and you can have a nice 1- 3 person MC trike that goes 45-55mph and 50+ mile range. nk Related Posts From Green Inc.
