In June, Balqon entered into an agreement with Electric Cars of Costa Rica, a distributor of light duty trucks, golfcarts, trams and neighborhood electric vehicles in Costa Rica.

The 914 AC kit uses 8V golfcart batteries and I'm wondering if different batteries like Hawkers or Optima Yellow-Top batteries would be better. Both US-Battery and Trojan have 8-volt golf-cart batteries. This week is packed, so I might get to hooking up the back-up light wiring on the EV if there's time on Friday.

Since traffic is really light on Sunday morning, I drove to work (15 miles away) and back to see how the 914 would handle. I'm not sure how much current these golfcart batteries are designed for. It was needed to eliminate the view by many that EVs were simplify glorified golfcarts. The public has seen President Biden accelerate in a Ford F-150 Lighting. In the early days of the modern EV all of about 10 years ago, quick acceleration was an important selling point and positioning message. The public gets it now.
We should be concentrating on eliminating the hoggiest of the hogs by hybridizing them or reducing their acceleration which BY ITSELF reduces consumption since it leads drivers to unlearn stop and go driving, instead timing arrival at lights to when they are green. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golfcart.
