Among electric vehicles from automakers that report specific sales numbers for their EV models, the Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV was tops in the US in 2021 with 27,3707 units sold. Another top-selling EV beyond Tesla models that is not included is the Jeep Wrangler 4xe PHEV, which likely saw 2021 sales of between 20,000-25,000.

In GM teaser videos we saw hints of future electric GMC and Chevrolet pickups and what clearly looks like a Camaro. 4, Hyundai IONIQ 5, Audi Q4 e-tron, Toyota RAV4 Prime PHEV, Ford Escape PHEV, and Lincoln Corsair PHEV have either become available or likely will be in 2021.

For electric vehicles, the BBBA includes multiple proposed changes to IRC 30D, more commonly knows as the federal EV tax credit. Perhaps the mostly likely is the requirement for EVs to be assembled in the US in a union factory to qualify for an additional $4,500 tax credit. Tax Credit Becomes Refundable. More on this below.

Lexus is promising that by 2025, the luxury division of Toyota will introduce 20 new vehicles encompassing hybrids, plug-in hybrids, battery-electric vehicles, and “other electric vehicles” globally. Clair, Michigan, that will build complex battery enclosures for the all-new 2022 GMC Hummer EV.
