A consortium of Ford, Scottish and Southern Energy and Strathclyde University will use the fleet of fifteen prototype Ford Focus BEV vehicles and a charging infrastructure in and around the London Borough of Hillingdon from early 2010. The BEV will have a range of up to 120 km (75 miles) and a top speed of up to 136 km/h (85 mph).

Hyundai and some other automakers lost access to a $7,500 federal tax incentive after the Inflation Reduction Act made half the credit dependent on whether an EV's battery is manufactured or assembled in North America and the other half on whether the materials are sourced in the U.S. or from a free-trade agreement partner.
