Nissan announced that cumulative sales of vehicles with its e-POWER electrified powertrain ( earlier post ) surpassed 500,000 units at the end of March. The e-POWER system uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. e-POWER power train (for New Note).

Toshiba Corporation announced that Nissan Motor Corporation has selected its innovative SCiB lithium-ion rechargeable battery for the latest generation of its ROOX and ROOX Highway STAR cars and that Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has selected the SCiB battery for the latest generation of its eK X space and eK space cars.

Nissan Motor Co., in cooperation with the Tochigi prefectural government, will carry out real world driving tests of the battery-electric commercial vehicle, e-NV200 ( earlier post ), in the prefecture’s rural areas from 3 September. The e-NV200 test vehicle to be used is based on Nissan's multi-purpose compact van, NV200.
