Nissan launched the all-new Note Aura premium compact car in Japan, with sales planned to start in autumn. The all-new Note Aura comes exclusively with Nissan’s e-POWER electrified powertrain ( earlier post ), a key part of the company’s electrification strategy under the Nissan NEXT global business transformation plan.

Nissan announced that cumulative sales of vehicles with its e-POWER electrified powertrain ( earlier post ) surpassed 500,000 units at the end of March. The e-POWER system uses a highly efficient gasoline engine to generate electricity for the electric motor that propels the vehicle. e-POWER power train (for New Note).

The Nikkei reports that Nissan Motor Co. plans to begin selling hybrid vehicles based on its own technology in Japan in 2011. Nissan is likely to develop a low-cost, compact powertrain similar to those in Honda hybrids, with an electric motor to provide additional power to a constantly working engine.
