The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a new review of the Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). In October 2021, EPA announced a reconsideration of the previous Administration’s decision to retain the NAAQS for ozone. In many of the areas designated as not meeting the current 2015 standards, work remains.

The plan, California’s Short-lived Climate Pollutant Reduction Strategy, maps out the route to more rapid greenhouse gas reductions by clamping down on these super pollutants. Approximately 70% of the reductions needed to meet the ozone standard in the South Coast in 2031 would come from existing or proposed regulatory actions.

The California Air Resources Board on Thursday adopted the final greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions cap-and-trade regulation. Compliance obligations for greenhouse gas emissions begins 1 January 2013. the second, starting in 2015, brings in distributors of transportation fuels, natural gas and other fuels. Earlier post.)

ARB will hold a one-day workshop on 2 March to discuss its preliminary thoughts and sources of information upon which to base the proposed standards and procedures. At the workshop, staff will also discuss these studies and welcomes input from stakeholders.

Feedback from participants in the high-performance computing workshop should be matched against the current code development activities, and the adequacy of the current program should be assessed. If necessary, the next-generation code development should be adjusted. These new targets need to be set for the research efforts.
