Eni announced a giant natural gas discovery at the Mamba South 1 prospect, in the Area 4 Offshore Mozambique. The discovery well encountered a total of 212 meters of continuous gas pay in high-quality Oligocene sands. Results exceed pre-drill expectations and confirm the Rovuma Basin as a world-class natural gas province.

Eni and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation signed a Heads of Agreement (HOA) establishing foundational principles for the coordinated development of common natural gas reservoirs in the offshore Mozambique. bp has successfully loaded the first LNG cargo from Mozambique’s offshore Coral Sul FLNG (floating liquefied natural gas) facility, the country’s first LNG project and first floating LNG facility deployed in the ultra-deep waters of the African continent.
