IRENA sees renewable hydrogen at least cost-possible within decade

Green Car Congress

Hydrogen produced with renewable electricity could compete on costs with fossil fuel alternatives by 2030, according to a new report from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). For that, today’s manufacturing capacity of less than 1 GW would have to massively grow beyond 100 GW in the next 10 to 15 years.

They also are being subjected to disinformation campaigns fueled in part by Donald Trump’s long-standing hatred of windmills. The issue is: How do these impacts compare to the positive impacts and, in the case of renewable energy projects, how do they compare to fossil fuel alternatives?

To Store or Not to Store: That is the Question

Green Car Congress

This has led to a change in thinking of how energy generation is optimized and a new strategy has developed in which flexible energy generating sources are deployed to meet peak requirements while maintaining a steady state base load from low cost less-flexible solutions. The variable output from a solar field is shown in Fig 2.
