Clean-air plan for San Joaquin Valley first to meet all federal standards for fine particle pollution; $5B in incentive funding required

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has adopted a plan that demonstrates to the US Environmental Protection Agency how the San Joaquin Valley air basin will attain each of four federal standards for fine particulate matter by regulatory deadlines. Deadlines for attaining these standards are 2020, 2024 and 2025, respectively.

The California Air Resources Board announced a settlement with AltAir-Paramount, LLC addressing reporting violations under the Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS). Of that total, $66,500 goes into California’s Air Pollution Control Fund. The settlement is valued at $132,500.

UC Riverside engineers to “referee” CARB heavy-duty truck emissions program

University of California, Riverside (UCR) environmental engineers will soon serve as referees in California’s drive for heavy-duty trucks to meet the state’s tailpipe emission standards. CARB settles with American Honda Motor for $6.9M for violations of air quality regulations on small off-road engines

In 2019, CARB testing revealed several small off-road engine (SORE) products did not meet CARB evaporative emission standards. These standards control the amount of raw fuel that is allowed to evaporate from these engines, which are typically used in lawn and garden equipment such as lawn mowers and pressure washers.
