Ford Motor Company and Azure Dynamics Corporation are introducing a passenger wagon version of the Ford TransitConnect Electric. The wagon is a logical next step for Azure and Ford which first introduced an electrified TransitConnect in December 2010. Earlier post.). The wagon has a top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h).
Through an open and competitive RFP process, Canada Post has selected the Ford TransitConnect to begin replacing its aging national fleet of vehicles and modernize its business. Taxi Medallion Management in Chicago has purchased 12 Ford TransitConnect Taxis running on compressed natural gas (CNG) for its fleet. The purchase is part of the company’s goal of reducing emissions by 25%, said Michael Levine, CEO of Taxi Medallion Management. The taxis have a 39-foot turning radius.
Awards include (ranked by amount): PHL Taxi Management LLC —$900,000 – to purchase and deploy 50 new CNG taxis in Philadelphia that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and to build a publicly accessible CNG fueling station in the city.
