Ford Motor Company and Azure Dynamics Corporation are introducing a passenger wagon version of the Ford Transit Connect Electric. The wagon is a logical next step for Azure and Ford which first introduced an electrified Transit Connect in December 2010. The wagon has a top speed of 75 mph (121 km/h).

Azure Dynamics Corporation and Ford Motor Company announced that New York Power Authority (NYPA), the nation’s largest state public power organization, has been added to the LEAD customer program for the Ford Transit Connect Electric van. The battery is rechargeable using either a 240-volt or standard 120-volt outlet.

Among the changes Ford is implementing for its 2016 Ford Transit range, the flexible-fuel vehicle system will be standard equipment on 2016 Transit Connect vans with 2.5-liter Flex-fuel Transit Connect vans are engineered to run on E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline), unleaded gasoline or any blend of the two.

The Dutch energy company Eneco has signed contracts for the purchase of 50 Smith Ampere electric commercial vans, the electric version of the Ford Transit Connect, to be delivered in 2009 and 2010.
