In Hawaii, Toyota launched a new round-trip, station-based car share service called Hui. Seventy Toyota and Lexus vehicles are available for reservation through the Hui mobile app (for iOS and Android devices) by the hour or day at 25 easily accessible locations throughout Honolulu.

(Servco) have partnered to test a new car-sharing technology in Honolulu. When the employee-only pilot testing program concludes, Servco, the distributor of Toyota vehicles in Hawaii, will use the car-sharing technology to launch a new Honolulu-based car share business by the end of 2017. California-based US Hybrid Corporation has been awarded a contract by the Hawaii Center for Advanced Transportation Technologies (HCATT) for the design, integration and delivery of its H 2 Ride Fuel Cell Plug-In Shuttle Bus for operation by the County of Hawaii Mass Transit Agency’s (MTA) HELE-ON Big Island bus service.

Better Place has started its initial deployment of EV infrastructure in Hawaii, with the launch of a project to incorporate its electric-vehicle infrastructure in Honolulu, in partnership with Kyo-ya Hotels & Resorts’ Sheraton Waikiki Resort and Hawaiian Electric Company. Kyo-ya will operate two of the electric vehicles.

Nissan provided a list of the top 15 markets in the US for the Nissan LEAF battery-electric vehicle. Another three are on the West Coast and in Hawaii: Seattle (4), Portland (5), and Honolulu (6). LEAF is among the top ten best-selling vehicles, regardless of powertrain. Top 15 LEAF market year-to-date in 2013.

Coulomb Technologies, a provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging station infrastructure, has secured $14 million in Series B funding in a round led by Voyager Capital and Rho Ventures. Coulomb will use the funds to expand research and development, operations capital and sales.
