Another Niche Filled by an Electric Version. Electric cars, trucks and buses are slowly making their way onto roads. million electric vehicle sales to date. Hybrid and fully electric vehicles are already available for a variety of commercial and personal uses. However, the vehicle isn’t fully electric.

Out in the desert as part of Burning Man , our encampment, Snow Koan Solar, is setting up a solar photovoltaic EV Charging Station (at 7:30 and Desert) for electric scooters, golf carts, sofas and barstools. We'll also be taking Burning Man art projects off petroleum generators by switching them to solar electricity.

I've been documenting electric cars in junkyards for about a decade. The first were converted gasoline vehicles fitted out with lead-acid battery packs ( a Chevy Sprint , a Geo Metro and a Ford Ranger ). I spotted a pair of France-built ZENN Electrics in 2017.

A fleet of 500 taxis navigated by computers, often with no safety drivers in them for backup, buzz around. Electric motors can increase or decrease power with less of a lag and in more finely controlled increments.
