General Motors is working with communities such as San Francisco to develop a plan of action to establish the supporting technical and policy infrastructure required for broad commercialization of plug-in electric vehicles such as the upcoming Chevrolet Volt. GM described its approach at the Washington Auto Show. State Government.

The morning session started out with an hour long press conference, the highlight being the unveiling of the Volt’s 230 mpg preliminary EPA city fuel economy finding ( earlier post ), as well as a tour showing selected elements from the studios of the four GM North American brands: Chevrolet, GMC, Buick and Cadillac. Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) : Read Series Hybrid. Electricity to drive the motor is directly generated by the chemical reaction of Hydrogen and Oxygen. It includes grants towards the purchase price, free parking, zero road tax, low company car tax, and exemption from city emissions and congestion charges.

Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. ↓ ↑ report 7 jharlan 2:20PM (4/25/2009) You know, I still just have no use for a toy car at a real car price. o well I guess they think all yanks hate diesels.
