Monash study on solar-driven electrolysis for green hydrogen production cautions on life-cycle emissions and EROI

Researchers at Monash University in Australia have conducted a lifecycle analysis and net energy analysis (LCA/NEA) of a hypothetical large-scale solar-electrolysis plant for the production of green hydrogen. There is no immediate concern for copper resources, but the average ore grade is declining as higher grade deposits become exhausted.

Masdar, Total and Abengoa launch Shams 1 100 MW concentrated solar power plant

Masdar, along with its partners Total and Abengoa, launched the 100 MW Shams 1, one of the largest concentrated solar power plant (CSP) in operation in the world, and the largest in the Middle East. Shams 1 uses parabolic trough technology to convert solar irradiation into solar heat which is fed into a steam turbine to provide power.
