Buyers of a new 2010 Fusion Hybrid or Mercury Milan Hybrid this year will qualify for a $3,400 tax credit. The Fusion Hybrid carries a 41 mpg rating in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The 2009 Escape and Mariner Hybrid FWD models qualify for a $3,000 tax credit; 4WD models $1,950. 2010 Fusion and Milan Hybrids.

The Environmental Protection Agency rates the 2021 Kia Niro PHEV at 46 mpg combined city and highway when running in hybrid mode, but an impressive 105 MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent—MPGe is a measurement of how far a car can travel, electrically, on the same amount of energy as is contained in one gallon of gasoline).
