Hydro-Québec has joined a Ford-EPRI North America-wide demonstration and research program on plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). EPRI has identified nine utilities across North America to test drive the vehicles and collect data on battery technology, vehicle systems, customer use and grid infrastructure. Earlier post.).

Ford has into a partnership with Johnson Controls-Saft (JCS) to develop advanced lithium-ion battery system to power Ford’s first production plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) beginning in 2012. Ford’s current demonstration fleet of Escape plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) is using JCS Li-ion packs.

T he Plug in 2008 National PHEV Conference in San Jose by most accounts was a big success. O ften when I talk about Plug-Ins , I say that PHEV's are a perfect embodiment of the 80-20 rule. But in the case of the PHEV , the logic goes something like this: Roughly 80% of our daily trips are under 35 miles. Here's a piece of it: Why do PHEVs reduce greenhouse pollution ?
