UK-Israel team developing new catalyst to produce tougher PLA biodegradable plastics

Scientists at the University of Bath and Tel Aviv University are developing a new catalyst to improve the properties of Poly(lactic acid) (PLA) plastics made from plants to make them stronger and more heat-resistant for broader use in applications such as engineering plastics for the automotive industry, microwavable trays and hot drinks cups.
