The overall drive system in the BMW ActiveHybrid X6 consists of a 400 hp (298 kW) twin-turbocharged V8 gasoline engine and two electric synchronous motors delivering 91 hp (68 kW) and 86 hp (64 kW), respectively. Energy storage is provided by a NiMH battery pack positioned beneath the floor of the luggage compartment.
