PACCAR will work with Cummins to offer the new Cummins X15N natural gas engine ( earlier post ) in Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks. PACCAR, Cummins and several customers including FedEx Freight and Knight-Swift will demonstrate the ability to achieve lower carbon emissions for long-haul transport using internal combustion engine technology.
PACCAR announced that a Kenworth T680 fuel cell electric vehicle and a battery electric Peterbilt Model 579EV became the first Class 8 zero emissions vehicles to drive to the 14,115 foot summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado. We are very excited about the work Kenworth and Peterbilt have done in the development of zero emissions technology.

Werner Enterprises, a premier transportation and logistics provider, is testing a 2019 Peterbilt 579 EV Class 8 electric truck for a year on a dedicated account in Southern California. Werner’s first electric-powered truck is the result of a partnership with Peterbilt, Meritor and TransPower.
The Peterbilt Model 579EV will deliver the RNG to the Dane County landfill facility, where it will be injected into the natural gas pipeline to be used as clean transportation fuel on the west coast. US Gain, a division of Wisconsin-based US Venture, Inc., offtakes the RNG for distribution to the transportation market in California.
