The Alliance and Elektromotive signed a Memorandum of Understanding on studying ways to promote the use of electric vehicles and will share information on EV development and energy supply on a global scale. The Brighton-based company also exports Elektrobays to Sweden, Holland, Germany and Ireland.

It will be responsible for the installation of the first Elektrobay roadside charging stations, which are scheduled to be completed ahead of this month’s COP15 global climate change conference in Copenhagen, which takes place from December 7-15. There will be several more bays installed during 2010.

Many of the new charging stations that will be installed around the UK will be Eletromotive’s iconic Elektrobays, identical to those 160 already sited in London and in other locations around the UK. The Elektrobay is the only recharging station currently in widespread day-to-day use anywhere in the world.
