Volvo Cars global sales up 31% in May; fully electric cars up 196%

Volvo Cars reported global sales of 60,398 cars in May, up 31% compared with the same month last year. The company’s fully electric cars were the main contributor to the growth, rising 196% during the period to 10,826 units (). The share of fully electric cars stood at 18%.

Volvo Cars inaugurates new battery assembly line at Ghent manufacturing plant

Renault Group to partner with Terrafame for sustainable nickel supply

Renault Group and Finland-based metals producer Terrafame have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the future supply of nickel sulfate. With this agreement, Renault Group will secure a significant annual supply of nickel sulfate from Terrafame, representing up to 15 GWh of annual capacity.

Gotion to supply VW with LFP cells outside of China

Under a new contract, China-based Gotion High-Tech will supply Volkswagen with LFP cells outside China. Gotion began supplying LFP cells to Volkswagen China in early 2022. The prismatic battery is to be used in 80% of all the group’s electric cars by 2030. VW unveiled the unit cell in March 2021 as part of its Power Day.
